Years in Practice: 20
Welcome! My name is Hillary and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I have worked in the field of mental health and substance use counseling since 1999 in a variety of settings facilitating both group and individual counseling. My counseling style is generally laid back and I have been described as supportive, caring, and non-judgmental, with a pretty good sense of humor. I like to focus on identifying a persons strengths and helping to maximize those strengths in order to overcome any obstacles you could be facing. I work from the Cognitive Behavioral perspective but I will use an infusion of different practices in order to help you work toward your treatment goals and objectives. I have experience working with individuals who have a wide range of concerns including relationship stress, anxiety, depression, phase of life challenges, grief and loss, stress management and substance use.
It takes courage to seek help for a more fulfilling and happier life and if you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
