I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 40 years of experience in the helping professions, including 15 years of work as a licensed counselor. Therapy offers the opportunity for personal exploration, insight and change to work through difficult times toward a healthy adjustment. I will work at your pace to address the issues you are facing and promote an improved quality of life.

I have worked with many people who have experienced grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, troubled relationships, or spiritual distress. In these times, a trained guide makes the difference in overcoming the obstacles and building a new life. I believe my breadth of experience, compassion, and insight will be useful in addressing your concerns.

I often use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, which focuses on both thought patterns and behaviors. Discovering new viewpoints, confronting actions that hinder adjustment, and mastering new skills provide a powerful force to move us toward our goals. Hundreds of studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of this tool to bring positive change. As the need arises I may also utilize Acceptance Commitment Therapy or Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma.

Spirituality is often a vital element is strengthening the work toward wellness. I respect each client’s spiritual perspective as unique. I hold a progressive faith that believes in the love, goodness and redeeming power of God to work in every life.

I worked with Larry in the past and had a great experience. I have tried other counselor's but none of them were able to listen and encourage me to work through my stumbling blocks. Larry provided me with tools that have equipped me to help myself. I was thrilled to find Larry again because he the best counselor that I have had and good counselors are not easy to find.

I had been struggling to get started with counseling when I signed up for Faithful Counseling. I shared what my main concerns and reasons for wanting counseling were. Larry Payne responded promptly...and even though I ignored him (because I was anxious about starting), he persisted and let me know that he was praying for me and there if I needed to talk. I appreciated that. I have also appreciated his continued prompt responses.

Larry does a wonderful job of listening and meeting you with genuine empathy and understanding right where you are. I’ve appreciated his boldness in validating the hard things while gently offering insight into next steps toward a greater balance of health in the midst of those hard things. The practical approaches combined with//rooted in faith have been excellent.

He is a very diligent and skilled counselor and very much interested in helping his client actually fix there problems rather than just hearing them out.

Larry is just great. He does his homework before your session which I greatly appreciate. He seems to always come prepared. He listens, he truly cares about you, and works with you as a team.

I wanted to wait a couple of months before writing a review. Well, I have only had 4 sessions and felt with the experience I have had with Larry that it needed to be shared. I've had only one other therapist who I see in person and who I really love. I decided to try to get additional help and another viewpoint as life and trauma just suck and it couldn't hurt right? It's been going pretty well thus far. He's responsive, compassionate, and understanding. If you think, "there's no way someone is this nice and is sincere about it?" You're wrong, he is absolutely 100% sincere and generally a happy person. He cares, genuinely wants to help, and keeps you accountable. My current therapist isn't a homework person so that's a bit different for me. I apparently don't mind the work outside of the video sessions. I like to be communicating throughout the week. It's a nice change. It makes me feel like I have someone there who I know will respond throughout the week. For me, waiting from session to session can be super hard during some tough times. You won't regret choosing Larry. If you are committed and work hard, communicate, and most importantly are honest, I am sure you will see results.

Larry is so perceptive and is always able to pinpoint my concerns with great accuracy!

I have been working with Larry for a few months now. I will say that I think it took few/several sessions for us to get to know each other. Since then, I think Larry understands the person within me. He listens and listens intently. He's offered great feedback and extra work for me to do to understand what further work I need to heal. I would definitely recommend him if their needs meet Larry's expertise. He's a great individual and therapist!

I was on the fence for a lot of things, I was lost in my on fog of bad thoughts and vibes. 2 weeks isn't enough to truly say things have progressed far, but baby steps in the right direction from his words and worksheets have brighten my outlook.
