More about me
My name is Lisa O'Bryan, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. I earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology at the University of Virginia. I continued on to earned a Masters of Education (MSEd) in Counseling and Psychotherapy at Old Dominion University. I currently own a private practice called Grace Covenant Counseling & Psychotherapy.
I believe in the potential of people to heal and have the life that they deserve. I work with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children with a variety of emotional and behavioral issues, providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples and individual counseling. I believe in being in the moment with each client, providing a comfortable and safe therapeutic environment to promote personal growth. It is important to understand a person's social and family background and how those affect their daily life and functioning.
I strive to assist individuals in changing negative thoughts (cognitions) and behaviors to more positive alternatives. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client's individual needs to help attain the growth they are striving for. I believe that everyone has a story to tell. Counseling helps you understand your past so that you can write your future. I strive to help all of my patients understand where they have been, what has worked and not worked for them, and choose their future path.
I look forward to working with you.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
