Patient, listens well, non-judgmental. Never rushes me through a session. Follows up with me via messaging. Dr. K. is the first counselor that I have actually stuck with. I believe that I will actually make positive progress with her.

I have been a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Virginia for the past 20 years. I am licensed in Professional Counseling; Marriage and Family Counseling and Addictions. I have a PhD in Counseling and Education. I have worked with adolescents, their families, and adults with addiction and dual disorders for the past 20 years. Addictions I have worked with include alcohol, illicit substances, and medication abuse. I have also worked with professionals (doctors, nurses, CEOs, police officers, etc.) and their family members who were dealing with different addictions. I understand that the when a family member is struggling from addiction the family struggles too. The impact is overwhelming. Helping the whole family has been my focus for over 20 years. Working with parents dealing with addiction in their teenagers is also one of my expertise. I wrote a book, "Teenland: A Parent's Guide to Navigating the World of Adolescence" (which can be gotten through me directly) which helps parents parent adolescents.
My approaches includes cognitive-behavioral, Person Centered, Solution Focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Neuro Linguistic Programing . Change is possible no matter how old you are or what the issues are. I can help guide you to whatever changes you decide you want. Our work is a partnership. I am an expert on change and you are the expert on you.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
