More about Denise

  • 8 years' experience

Hello! Thank you for visiting my page.

My name is Denise and I have worked in the mental health field for almost ten years.

I have experience working with adults, adolescents, and children, and have worked with a wide variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, and other life difficulties.

I am especially interested in working with adolescents, but I am excited to have the opportunity to work with adults as well. Most of the clients in my in-person practice are adults. I am particularly interested in doing message-based and live chat counseling.

My counseling style is a combination of psychodynamic approaches (talking about emotions and working through difficult experiences using traditional "talk therapy" type techniques) and cognitive-behavioral approaches (looking at the relationship between emotions, behaviors, and thoughts, and how influencing one can make us feel better or worse emotionally). I use more of one or the other depending on the person's preference.

Much research has shown that one of the most important factors in how much a person benefits from counseling is the quality of the relationship between the person and the counselor. So I am glad that you took the time to read my profile and invite you to message me if you have any questions. If you feel like we may be a good fit for each other, I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Denise is so great. After about a month of messaging with her I feel so much more in control of my emotions. She is so understanding and easy to talk to, even when I text her novels! She breaks everything down into manageable bite size pieces and helps you tackle your issues little by little so you’re not overwhelmed. Or even if you are overwhelmed, she makes sure you know that is okay! She is phenomenal, highly recommend!

Reviewed September 2019

Denise offers really reasonable advice and action items to work on. She is more than just a person to rant to. She tries to fully understand your situation before offering help. She also never makes you feel like your problem is too minuscule to focus on.

Reviewed August 2019

Denise is absolutely amazing. I knew the second I read her profile that I would work well with her, but she's exceeded all expectations. She's a knowledgeable, kind person who takes time to touch on everything, even if you send it in a disorganized mess of a message. I'm so thankful to have her as my counselor, and look forward to continuing my sessions with her.
