Sharmane has provided me with excellent counseling over the past several weeks. I came to her looking to get my anxiety and depression in check as it was affecting my personal life and, since I started my sessions with her, I (as well as my family) have noticed a significant change in my demeanor. Sharmane asks the right questions and also provides supplemental material to help me focus on and analyze my issues from a logical standpoint. For someone who has been told just “to get over it” and had, up to this point, found it extremely difficult to do so, these questions allow me to look at the larger picture and get to the root of what is making me feel the way I do so that I can better control it. This is the help I was looking for -- small, 30 minute sessions over a live chat service to express my concerns and get the counseling I needed to improve my life.

More about me
Greetings, I have been working as a counselor for over ten years and have been licensed in Virginia for over two years. I have experience working as a life coach, outpatient therapist and inpatient therapist. The range of concerns that I have worked with clients with are anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bipolar, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Parenting issues, anger management, career challenges, and also LGBT issues.
My counseling style is centered on the needs of the client and is focused on building rapport through respect and honesty. I believe in treating all clients with respect and compassion and not focusing on a diagnosis. The counseling approach that I use most regularly are cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered therapy and a humanistic approach. All sessions are tailored to the needs of the clients and focused around their goals and needs.
I look forward to working with you in this new chapter!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
