Hello! I am thrilled that you have decided to take a leap to work through whatever life has brought your way. Obstacles, hurdles, and difficult life experiences are hard, but I have a desire and a passion to walk alongside you and provide a safe and accepting environment in your journey to hope and restoration. When we meet, I hope that you find me warm, friendly, compassionate, and ready to listen with an open ear. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia. I have five years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings to include crisis settings, school settings, and home settings prior to transitioning to private practice. I provide counseling to individuals of all ages and families to address various issues such as trauma, anxiety, anger management, abuse, depression, life changes, parenting issues, grief, attention-deficit disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, and adjustment disorders. I I use an eclectic approach in sessions, but find that I utilize various evidenced based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, interpersonal therapy with a trauma and person-centered approach most frequently.
One interesting fact about me: In 2011 and 2012, I traveled to Rwanda, Africa to explore the impact of trauma on a societal and individual level. During the trip, I explored various ways the country has coped, developed resiliency, and has overcome the impacts of trauma
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
