More about me
Years in Practice: 20
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist licensed in Virginia with over 20 years of experience working as a psychotherapist in several different settings. I have worked in schools, urban and rural areas, hospital settings, weight loss clinics, private practice and community mental health centers. I have worked in my current position as a Bariatric Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Psychologist for the past three years. Prior to working in a weight loss clinic, I worked in private practice seeing children, adolescents, couples, families and adults for thirteen years. I have experience working with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, developmental disorders, self harm, cognitive disorders, behavioral disorders, grief, eating disorders, sexual identity concerns and ADHD. I have vast experience in psychological assessment/testing. I have also helped people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My counseling style is empathetic, strengths based, and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, strengths based, psychodynamic, and dialectical behavioral therapy techniques. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek counseling for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
