Great news! You’ve taken the first steps toward making some real change in your life, and for this you should be so proud. It takes a great deal of courage to reach out and ask for help!
My name is Jes Conway and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of experience working with individuals, families and couples in a wide range of settings. I really am excited to get to know you and to see how I might be of service to you. I truly believe that we both bring our own expertise and skill set to our work together and that counseling is a true collaboration.
One of my favorite topics to explore with clients is how alcohol/substance use is affecting their lives. I am in recovery myself and find that working with others who suspect or know that they are having difficulty due to powerlessness over substances is some of my most rewarding work. I have adopted a non-judgmental and curious approach to substance use and truly am interested in helping others discover what substances are doing for them, so that we can add alternate ways of achieving the same goals. If abstinence or recovery is your goal, we can certainly work toward this as well, as outpatient counseling is a wonderful compliment to a program of recovery of your choice!
In addition, I am very competent working alongside those who are experiencing anxiety, depression, lack of purpose or meaning, low self-esteem/ self-worth, life transitions (or lack thereof!) and relationship issues. I’m also a huge fan of communication and assertiveness training, as I believe that it’s essential to affirm and validate people’s experiences, regardless of whether we agree or disagree with them. I can teach you how to do this!
I look forward to meeting and working with you. Take care until then.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
