My first experience with Margaret was fantastic. I originally signed up two months ago and the first counselor I had wasn’t very responsive. I didn’t even get to my first session because I never really got a sense that the counselor was available or wanted to help. I quit before really getting to use the service. I’m glad I took the chance and tried again because Margaret is great. I didn’t really know where to begin and in no time I felt validated, listened to and had a plan to help with my current stressors. I wish I had signed up for this sooner!

Years in Practice: 25
As a licensed clinical counselor in NC and VA, my career of 25 years has been devoted to helping others through talk therapy and goal-setting. People seek and come to counseling with a variety of feelings and reasons for issues they experience. Thus, my treatment approach is individualized for each person, since everyone is unique and has their own “story”.
In order to successfully reach goals and change the thoughts or behaviors affecting feelings, I generally use cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing approaches. Using these builds rapport and keeps the focus on partnering with clients to process and encourage change where it is beneficial.
I can help by listening, clarifying, working together, and giving clients tools to use throughout life. It is my firm belief that anyone can benefit from 'seeing' a mental health provider (the same as physical health)!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
