More about me
Licensing: PsyD, LMFT, NCC Years in Practice: 20 State: New York
Hi, my name is Dr. Jacqueline (Jackie) Kinville and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (in NY and UT), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (in CA), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have 20+ years of experience working with individuals, couples, groups, and families in settings such as outpatient community mental health, psychiatric emergency, county and federal governments, and private practice. I’ve had the privilege and honor of working with a variety of people from around the country in many states such as New York, New Mexico, Washington, California, Nevada, and Alaska. The virtual realm of telemedicine has allowed the expansion of my work to include many people who would not otherwise be able to engage in counseling, and I am very excited to include text, video, online chatting, and telephonic counseling to this list!
My counseling style is warm and interactive – I do not presume to be the expert on YOU! Only YOU are the expert on you! I act as a “tour guide” - pointing out things I may notice as we walk together on this portion of your life’s journey – assisting you to make changes that bring you closer to the goals and dreams you have, toward living the life you’d like to live. I believe through this respectful non-judgmental relationship, change will be fostered. My approach is strength-based and combines primarily attachment, psychodynamic, and humanistic theoretical orientations. I view individuals from the “whole person” lens, and incorporate physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual facets in the work we do together. If my style sounds like it might be a good fit for you, I would be honored to meet you and hear your story.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
