Welcome to the Better Help Community. Thank you for trusting us to help you. My name is Kristin Scott-Groves and I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Colorado and South Carolina. I have worked as a clinical therapist and college professor, teaching psychology of lifespan development. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master of Social Work degree. I have worked with different populations including military members and their families, as well as children, adolescents, and teenagers. My experience includes working with individuals with anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, parenting, and adjustment to change.
My approach to therapy is client centered. You are the expert on your life and you determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I help guide clients in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish their goals. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This can help clients find the unhelpful and unhealthy thought patterns as well as learn healthier ways of thinking.
I applaud you for taking the first step in better health. I know that starting something new can be scary. If you are ready to take the next step in making healthy changes in your life, I will work with you on your path to success.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
