Years in Practice: 10
Greetings! My name is Stacy Riley and I am Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida with a Masters in Certified Addiction Professional credential. With over 10 years experience I have been blessed to provide services in a variety of settings and populations. I provided conflict resolution, crisis management, therapy and support to individuals and families. I take pride in providing each client with compassion and care. Having a history of providing counseling services to a variety of individuals from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, life environments, beliefs and a variety of different concerns from: substance use/abuse, grief, abuse/trauma depression, self-esteem, anxiety and psychosis. Transitions such as career change, moving, lifestyle change, death/loss of a friend or family member or an identity crisis are some of the many potential challenges that one can experience in life. There is hope!
My success as a counselor is rooted in my education and diverse experiences from education, work, volunteering and life. I’m looking forward to our work together. It’s an incredible honor and privilege to walk with you and to be a support on the healing journey you have set out on, the potential for transformation that can happen in your life is amazing. I have effectively supported many people and have specialized training to do so. Growth can be difficult and sometimes, things tend to get worse before they get better. The outcome of therapy is strongly dependent on your willingness and commitment to the process - what you put in you get out. I assist in the process, you lead the way!
My therapeutic style has been described as compassionate and direct. Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are explored - how they relate and impact one another that often result in conditioned responses. Once the pattern is brought into awareness and how each relates, then lasting change may occur with altering the pattern. Through this process it is possible to learn skills to use to better manage thoughts, feelings and behaviors. While my primary theoretical orientations are Solution Focus Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Focus - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I recognize that each client is unique. Therefore, each counseling session is tailored accordingly to the individual.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
