Greetings! My name is Kimberly Johnson and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with you as a therapist and partner. I would first like to commend you on taking the necessary steps to gain supports at this time in your life. It takes courage and willingness to do what you have done thus far. Kudos to you! It is my goal, as your therapist, to partner with you step by step, on identifying strategies, healthy supports, and the unique abilities you possess as we navigate the obstacles that you feel hinder you from accomplishing the goals you want to achieve.

I am a compassionate, empathetic, solution-focused therapist that is dedicated personally and professionally to this field. I work well with diverse populations and possess the ability to diffuse stressful situations, proactively resolve issues, and exceed challenging expectations and/or goals. I have an innate ability to build trust with others and communicate effectively when helping those I serve.

I have 14 years of experience in Education, Mental Health, and Counseling. My educational background includes Bachelors of Science (Virginia State University), Masters of Counselor Education (VSU), and Masters of Mental Health Counseling (Walden University). I am currently licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the states of Virginia and Georgia. I hold a Pupil Personnel License (PreK-12-VA), National Board Certification as a National Certified Counselor-NCC, and National Certified School Counselor-NCSC. My work experiences include being a middle school teacher, School Counselor, Clinician/Case Manager (Adult/Children’s Mental Health Support), Clinical Supervisor, Therapist, and Local Human Rights Committee Chair. I am currently seeking a Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a focus on Trauma and Crisis, at Walden University.

The theoretical approaches that I may utilize may include Client Centered counseling approaches, Trauma Informed practices, Solution Focused strategies, Cognitive Behavioral techniques, Reality/Choice theoretical frameworks, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I also have a passion for working with adults and children through expressive art techniques, music, and the utilization of play therapy techniques.

I will utilize a therapeutic framework that focuses on your specific needs, that is solution focused, culturally sensitive, and empowering to your path of success. I look forward to working with you in the future. Allow me to help you discover your new beginning. Again, you are courageous and I commend you for taking such an important step in your life.
