Hello,
My name is Lisa Young. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor in Maryland and District of Columbia, respectively. I earned my Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. Over the past 17 years, I have worked with clients in diverse settings such as outpatient community mental health agencies, behavioral health centers and schools. I have passionately and diligently provided treatment and guidance for adolescents, adults and families struggling with many issues affecting their emotional and social well-being.
As a licensed therapist, my goal is to provide individual psychotherapy to adults struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges in their lives such as anxiety, depression, illness, grief/loss, separation/divorce, stress and relationship conflicts.
I believe in working from a person centered and cognitive behavioral approach. During sessions, individuals identify negative thoughts and learn to implement healthier coping skills to replace these thoughts. The objective is to help you develop the tools needed to overcome life's adversities in a more effective way. I like for clients to reflect on the question, "Does what I do work for me?” If the answer is "No" or if you are undecided, then it is time for a change. Let's start this journey to build a new you. Through each session, you will become empowered to embrace change and accept the new you!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
