Jennifer has been an absolute delight. She’s very intuitive and aware of what your needs are and struggles you’re trying to get through. She has been extremely helpful with tips and techniques that have helped me out tremendously. I myself have never had therapy until a few months ago I decided to try BetterHelp and they matched me with Jennifer, I couldn’t have asked for a better therapist/person to guide me through my struggles. I’m still going through the sessions but I can already tell a huge improvement in myself since I’ve had sessions with her. I highly recommend her for anyone especially for someone who experiences extreme anxiety.

Hello! My name is Jennifer Alder, LMSW. I have a BA Degree in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work. I have been a fully licensed social worker for over 7 years and practice out of the state of Michigan. I have enjoyed working in the mental health field for 15+ years in numerous capacities. I have successfully worked with all ages from birth-end of life assisting with many difficult transitions, challenges, and uncomfortable moments with those I have had the pleasure to work with. I regularly receive feedback about my sincere presentation and how I speak to people like people not like "clients".
I have over 5 years experience working with children and families in the child welfare system within foster care and adoption both with birth parents as well as foster/adoptive parents and their children. I have worked in a combined partial/inpatient psychiatric facility for over 5 years as well offering individual and group therapy to both adolescents and adults in the areas of general psych, trauma, eating disorders, and addiction. I have worked as a therapist with children suspected of being sexual abused with a local children's advocacy center. I have also worked with a groundbreaking organization in the community helping to assist seniors with aging in place and facing end of life issues, while trying to avoid them going into the ER and hospital or nursing facilities unnecessarily. I have worked a great deal with each of my clients as individuals as well as their family systems which support them. I enjoy using a person centered mixture of CBT, DBT, ACT, MI, & art therapies based on the needs of the individual I am working with. I have done this work both in person as well as virtual during the unprecedented season of Covid 19 which has caused many of us to change our modalities and think outside of the box in order to meet the needs of those we serve.
It is never easy to acknowledge it is time for a change in our lives . This need arises from a variety of sources and for many reasons. Sometimes we need assistance with navigating our emotions or processing what is occurring in our lives while other times we may need more guidance with finding our direction on where to even begin. I am very hopeful that together we can walk through any obstacles you may experience and help to find a way to overcome them and gain more support and success in your personal goals. I commend you for your courage and commitment in working to improve your self and I would feel very honored to assist you in this process and walk beside you throughout your very personal journey!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Jen is honestly awesome! I started therapy not believing that it would work for me, I believed that things wouldn’t change… we have been doing a great work together and she has helped me with my struggles. Very understanding and professional
Jennifer listened to what I was saying and helped me explore a lot of the feelings I didn't understand. She's very gentle and reassuring. I appreciated her approach so much.
Jennifer is great! She provides a safe and welcoming space and gives valuable tools and advice to help me through life.
She is so understanding of your problems and very caring. She’s always quick to respond to me in any time of need.
Jennifer is very down to earth and easy to talk to. So far, she has given great advice and helped me navigate through some tough times.
Jennifer has been such an incredible therapist for me. I feel like I am able to finally heal properly and take charge of my life. She’s extremely compassionate, understanding, and educated on the subjects we work on. I feel extremely confident confiding in her about my issues and I’ve been able to heal from past traumas.
Jennifer is extremely knowledgeable, and it's only been 2 sessions. I would highly recommend working with her.
I came into this experience totally in the dark about therapy. Not even sure I needed it. The first session with Jen let me quickly know I had made the right decision for myself. Jen is so easy to talk to, she makes me feel completely comfortable. She has given me tools that have made a difference in my life just after a couple sessions. I would highly recommend Jen to anyone!
She is amazing
I don't think I've met someone who matched my personality better. I have had bad experiences with therapy in the past, but my whole opinion on therapy has changed since I committed to BetterHelp and Jennifer! Always have felt like I'm chatting with an old friend who just happens to also be a therapist.
I love Jen! She’s absolutely amazing and responds in a timely matter, always checking in. I adore her.
Jennifer is beyond amazing! I've never been one to open up and share my feelings, especially with someone I do not know, but with Jennifer, I feel like I've known her my whole life. She makes me feel comfortable and shows that I matter and my thoughts matter and trying therapy out and getting matched with her was one the best things that has happened to me. When I talk to her its like talking to a best friend. I HIGHLY recommend her!
An astounding therapist and I love her approach to what we discuss and work with. Amazing at getting to the root of everything during our sessions even if I go into it feeling all over the place or unsure or what to even focus on talking about. I highly recommend her, appreciate my journey I’ve embarked on with her so much.
love her!
I love Jennifer so much. She became my friend and I always look forward to talking to her. She provides great insight to my thoughts and I appreciate everything she’s done for me.
great job so far!
Amazing! She listens and has really good techniques for you to practice improving your life. I’d recommend her to anyone!
Jennifer does a great job of clarifying my thoughts and encouraging me to pursue my goals.
Jennifer is a great listener and really helps you plan in a realistic way to reach your goals whatever they may be. I would recommend her as a therapist to anyone looking to improve their well-being.
Jennifer is incredible. She has literally turned my life around in 4 short months through her encouragement, skills, and empathy. Could not recommend her more highly!
Jennifer has really made it a safe place for me to express myself. She listens and I can tell she’s a very kind person. She really encourages me and motivates me as well as gives me insightful messages. I’ve learned a lot through her and she reaffirms me all the time. I do recommend her to anyone and I’m truly thank for her <3
Even after only 3 sessions, Jennifer has helped me so much. She is kind, caring, and compassionate. She helps me work through things at my own pace and in ways that work best for me.
Jennifer is flexible when doing therapy. I do best with video therapy. It was fun to see a green outdoor background doing our last chat. Nature is healing for me. She also sends notes to respond to during the time between actual therapy sessions. I feel better physically and emotionally. I feel supported to adding balance into my life.
Jennifer is great at what she does, and even when presented with topics she's not as well-versed in, she takes the time to listen and to learn.
Down to earth. Real.
I appreciate the time that Jennifer dedicates to me. She responds to messages in a timely manner and always asks if there's anything that she can do to help. It's nice to feel like someone is in your corner and wants to be there for you.
It took me several years for me to finally go for it and do therapy. The fact that Betterhelp offers financial assistance and connected me with my therapist Jennifer was such a blessing. She is so helpful, supportive and kind. Her insight is very thought out and she comforts and validates my experience in a way I didn’t think was possible. I have recommended BetterHelp to friends because my experience so far has really been helpful, and I just want to make sure that they have someone with them on their journey as amazing as Jennifer is in mine.
