Hello!

I am a Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience working in the State of Wisconsin with both Individuals and Couples. During my career, I have over 10 years experience working with individuals experiencing grief, loss, and end of life concerns. My specialties also include; relationship/family issues, anger management, depression/anxiety issues, and life coaching personal development. I also have experience working with LGTBQ+ clients, as well as First Responder/Law Enforcement groups.

My counseling style is person centered; focused on inclusivity, and compassion. My goal is to help you identify your specific goals and then use a treatment plan to help meet your unique and specific needs. I am professionally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques. I believe, however, that no one style or technique is good for every person or situation, so I tailor my approach to what works best for you. Our work together is a "judgment free" zone. Regardless of your Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, or Race, I believe strongly in treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Talking to someone you don't know about personal issues can be very intimidating. It takes courage to seek help to achieve a happier and more fulfilling life. If you are ready to start that journey towards achieving your goals, then I will be there each step of the way to help guide you toward them.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Shelly is so nice and easy to talk to! She’s so friendly and gave me great advice and tips that really worked for me! Absolutely recommend her!

Reviewed February 2021

So far Shelley has responded to me in a timely, professional manner, however, I've only had a few sessions so I feel this evaluation would be more appropriate after several sessions. As a professional person we don't really know much about another person until we have spent considerable time with them. By wanting me to constantly evaluate and sending multiple messages takes away the personal interactions with the counselor and makes it seem impersonal and that others are involved in an experience that should be confidential. I'm talking about BetterHelp in general and not Shelley personally.
