Hello, my name is Elizabeth Janca. I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a counselor after my own experiences in play therapy and counseling. Having that safe space meant so much to me that I wanted to provide that opportunities for others.

Born and raised south of Houston, TX, I pursued a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Texas A&M University followed by a Master’s in Counseling and Development at Texas Woman's University north of Dallas, TX. Over the last ten years I have had experience in direct therapy as an ABA therapist for children aged 2-12, play therapy with children aged 4-10, activity therapy with adolescents, talk therapy with adolescents and adults, and group therapy with adolescents and adults. Aside from my experience as a counselor, I also have three years’ experience in middle school education as an Academic Counselor and Administrator.

I joined BetterHelp and Global Teletherapy with the hope of being able to continue to offer guidance and a safe space for children (5-12), teens (13-18), and young adults (19-35) as they navigate the challenges they encounter in life and school through client centered counseling. I primarily work out of Person/Client Centered Counseling, also known as Rogerian, which focuses on where the client drives the session in a nonjudgement space that facilities reflection. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive thoughts and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and develop coping strategies. I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

The best counselor I have worked with. She’s compassionate and understanding. Sometimes I feel like I’m talking to a friend instead of a counselor because I’m so comfortable with her. I’m thankful that I was matched with her

For so long I felt as if I can resolve my internal issues on my own. I was against ever speaking to a professional probably because I saw my mom force my brother to see a professional against his will when we were kids. I knew there were a lot of issues within that I needed to confront and deal with. I think 2020 and COVID convinced me that I couldn’t do it on my own. BetterHelp connected me with my counselor Elizabeth Janca and I am very grateful they did. In just 2 months of sessions with her I’ve seen major improvement in my mental health and growth as a person. She recommends practical strategies that help me cope with stress. I’ve implemented these practices and have seen how effective they are in my life on a daily basis. She’s personable and attentive. It’s not easy for me to trust and open up to people but Elizabeth is trustworthy and makes me feel comfortable in our sessions where it’s easy for me to open up. I look forward to our sessions and always leave feeling empowered, confident, motivated and ready to take on the world. Internally I’ve never felt better. My growth and progress has also reflected in my relationships with those around me and it’s all thanks to Elizabeth Janca.
