More about me
Years in Practice: 4
My name is Ashley Waddell. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Trauma Specialist in the state of Virginia with over 4 years of experience working in the area of mental health and social justice. I believe whole-heartedly in providing equitable and affordable mental health services to all in need. With a background in School Social Work, Community-Based Mental Health, Acute Psychiatric Inpatient Care, and Outpatient Therapy, I have worked with children, teens, adults, and the elderly who are dealing with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, racial and other forms of trauma, stress, relationship issues, family conflict, and parenting problems. My counseling style is authentic and genuine. I believe in supporting others in a real and unapologetic manner. My approach combines client-centered, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic theoretical modalities.
It is incredibly wise of you to seek help during difficult times. I live by the motto, "individuals inherently possess all of the necessary skills needed to support themselves, sometimes all that's needed is a gentle push". So during our time together, expect for me to listen first, as you are the expert with identifying your personal goals, while also supporting you to take that leap towards a promising future!
I look forward to working with you!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
