More about me
Years in Practice: 8
Hello! My name is Emily and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia. I have been working in the mental health field for 8 years. I have worked with individuals experiencing a variety of issues including family conflict, depression and anxiety, stress-related issues, autism, communication challenges, self-esteem, and many more.
My choice to work in this field comes from the belief that everyone deserves to be understood, heard, and supported while working towards becoming their best selves. After working in both probation and the school settings, I was able to discover my calling to help others in the counseling field. I attended Longwood University, where I earned a master's degree in mental health counseling.
I would describe myself as down-to-earth and open-minded. My belief is that everyone has needs that should be met in order to be their best. I also come from the view that thoughts shape our way of being in the world. It would be my privilege to become a partner in your journey while helping you to figure out your mental health goals. I will provide not only support and understanding but a clear direction, and both solution-focused and CBT strategies to get you to the place you deserve to be.
I look forward to helping you!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
