I have never experienced a therapist who has been as helpful as Russell has been. Russell is the first therapist who not only respects, but nurtures the fact that no other human being knows me better than I know myself. He helps me to nurture what I already know about myself and I feel comfortable speaking to him about pretty much anything. He is extremely respectful and understanding.

Hello. I am Russell Williams, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia. I have worked in various positions in mental health services for more that two decades, including providing therapy and counseling services for the past eight years. My experience has been with individuals of all ages experiencing any number of mental health issues. I have a great deal of experience in helping individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma, along with significant experience in the treatment of many other mental and behavioral health concerns.
I believe that we are each experts on ourselves, knowing more about self than anyone else, however often needing someone to provide alternative perspectives to help us keep moving forward. To this purpose, I seek partnership and understanding in order to develop a therapeutic relationship built on trust. I truly believe that we are all capable of growth and change. My clinical approach is eclectic with a purpose, heavily influenced by trauma-focused, client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and solution-focused views.
Taking the initial step to seek the assistance of a licensed provider is very brave. I applaud you for your bravery. It would be my honor and privilege to utilize my knowledge and experience to assist you in your journey through the therapeutic process.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Russell has been immensely insightful, empathetic, tactful, and client-centered. I had never had a therapist before, yet the first time I met Russell I felt immediately at ease, and more heard and listened to than I probably ever have. I knew from that first day that his support would be life-altering for me. I can always expect him to meet me where I’m at on a particular day and help me to develop a fresh mindset or problem-solve a new means of addressing an issue I’m working on. He is very creative, utilizes a multitude of therapeutic techniques, and helps me to better recognize and articulate the issues I’m having so that we can work on them together. I have had ongoing issues with generalized anxiety, ADHD, and depression. It’s been hard for me to find someone I’m comfortable enough with to open up to. I am lucky to have found Russell, and I feel so much lighter and more positive after our sessions. 11/10 would recommend, Russell is a true gem!
