Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! I am so pleased you have chosen to begin the path of personal growth and look forward to walking that path with you. I do BetterHelp counseling on a part-time basis therefore my availability is limited to Tuesday and Wednesday late afternoon/early evening and Saturday mornings. If these times will not work for you, please click on the Switch Counselor but to be reassigned to another therapist.

***Please note I have limited availability - I am only available Wednesday late afternoon/evening. I may be able to accommodate other times, however, that will vary on a week-to-week basis. Weekend times may be an option on a week-to-week basis as well. ****

My name is Lisa Schneider and I will be your therapist. I hold a master’s degree from Mount Mary University (Milwaukee, WI) in Art Therapy with an Emphasis in Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Wisconsin, Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and Certified Clinical Trauma Practitioner (CCTP). I am also a licensed teacher in the state of Wisconsin. Four years of clinical experience working with children and adolescents with mental health and special needs, primarily children with Autism, has taught me to be flexible and adaptive. Although I have specialized in working with children and adolescents, I have also worked with clients from all age groups and many different cultural orientations.

First and foremost I want the people I work with to feel comfortable and safe. I believe it is important to work collaboratively in identifying goals. My hope is we can discover together what works best for you on your path to healing. My approach is eclectic which allows me to pull from many theoretical backgrounds to provide you a personally tailored therapy plan. I look at each client in a holistic fashion, exploring mental and physical health, relationships and environmental concerns that may hinder a client in finding happiness. I believe a person functions as a system that is constantly working to keep itself in balance. As a trauma informed clinician I believe emotional regulation is the starting point in learning to heal. I also understand that many people find it difficult to express themselves verbally. My art therapy background can help us explore other means of communicating.

Once again, congratulations on taking your first step to a better you. I am looking forward to working with you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
