Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Arizona. My background includes working in a variety of settings with adolescents, families, adults both young and older. Because I have worked at many levels in organizations from a direct care counselor, supervisor of many behavioral health professionals to CEO, my experiences have exposed me to all types of people facing many challenges from personal to professional.
My approach to counseling is to establish myself as an ally to the individuals with whom I work. Through active listening, often times using humor when appropriate, I will attempt to fully understand the perspective and feelings that the person has and is experiencing. From the first session on, I try to help people take effective control of their situation by jointly designing plans that usually begin with small steps and build over time to dealing with the issues that contributed to the person asking for help.
I especially enjoy working with people who are going through transitions, such as, starting or ending school, changing jobs, experiencing divorce or loss, relationship struggles or even preparing for retirement. My approach is to help people examine their values, identify and build on their strengths, focus on acquiring new skills to deal with current and future problems and take action to change their lives in ways that they choose to be most helpful. While working together we may decide to modify or change plans as we go along, but the goals will always be clear and achievable
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
