More about me
Licensing: LCSW, JD Years in Practice: 23 State: California
I have over 20 years experience working with adults, adolescents, and children providing individual, family and group therapy. I am originally from New England where I did my counseling training but have also lived in the south and now in California. I think my experiences of practicing in different parts of the country have allowed me to have a unique understanding of how different people from different backgrounds experience life stress. Cultural competence is an important value for my practice.
I like to take a comprehensive approach, developing a relationship with my clients and then tailoring therapy to their specific needs and goals. I have received extensive training in several evidence based practices including buy not limited to DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and TF-CBT. I have completed extensive training in providing trauma informed services.
My professional experience includes working in Forensic Social Work with children who have experienced abuse, inpatient psychiatric therapy, outpatient psychotherapy, as well as years in clinical management and clinical supervision. Currently, my private practice focus's on providing individual therapy to those who are experiencing depression, anxiety, management of significant mental health issues such as Bi-Polar disorder. I work extensively with the LBGTQ community and have extensive experience working with clients who are trans gendered. I also work with clients recovering from trauma or have experienced difficulties due to family members who suffer from such disorders as Borderline Personality disorder or Narcissism.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
