More about me
Licensing: MA, LMFT Years in Practice: 8 State: California
Hi there! My name is Valerie and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. I have been working in the counseling field since 2010 with children, families and adults in a variety of settings. My most recent work has been with young children and their families, and we often focused on parenting, support for the parents/primary caregivers, behavioral support and training, and navigating life transitions.
I approach counseling through a strength-based lens and will work with you to uncover your needs and goals. I believe that the therapeutic process works well when we have a collaborative relationship, and my hope is that together we can come up with a plan to get you moving in the direction that will lead to positive change in your life. I find that a holistic approach focusing on mindfulness, movement and connection can have a great impact on one's overall well-being. It is possible to incorporate self- care into your daily life, and I am here to help. If you are a parent, this is especially important!
We don't always have big life changing issues facing us, but that doesn't mean we don't need or deserve the same support. At times we need a safe and judgement-free space to unload or vent, and I am happy to provide that for you. Other times we need a little nudge in a certain direction to make a significant change in our lives so I may use a more directive and goal-oriented approach. I enjoy the uniqueness in each client and look forward to creating a path towards positive change with you.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
