More about me

Licensing: LMFT Years in Practice: 15 State: California

Welcome.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family therapist with approximately fifteen years of experience, journeying alongside people as they work through a variety of life issues. I have work with people on a variety of concerns: anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction issues, spiritual struggles, life transitions and relationship issues.

My approach to therapy draws from different types of counseling. However, I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. ACT works with the acceptance of your harsh self-criticism or unwanted difficult feelings/sensation that hold you back from your best self. “It is like you are surfing… The same wave that can be a source of pain, can be a beautiful flowing of grace and a source of power. It’s all a matter of how you respond to it.” Quoted Trey Anastasio. ACT’s purpose is not to get rid of unpleasant thoughts and feelings, but to notice and embrace these thoughts as you generate your own action plan. ACT wants you to commit to an intentional action plan using behavioral targeted exercises and mindfulness work for a more purposeful flexible life that matters to you. In a nutshell, the ACT acronym also captures the essence of this approach as you ACCEPT your thoughts and feelings, CHOOSE directions, and TAKE actions.

You can take command of your life. You just need to be willing to take the first step. I look forward to working with you in a collaborative and non-judgmental way

About online counseling

Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
