Navigating life can be hard at times, and our problems can seem overwhelming when we are facing them alone. We can be mired down in negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors or caught in repetitive unhealthy coping loop. These can make it difficult to manage our daily lives and relationships. Anxiety, depression, past trauma, addiction and inadequate sleep can further impede our ability to find balance and a sense of peace. My goal is to provide you with a place to be heard and validated with empathy. A place to work through your problems and find solutions or perhaps meet a goal that has seemed out of reach for some time. I have worked as a licensed therapist (LCSW) for the past 5 years in a community setting with adolescents and adults. My approach to counseling takes into account that each client is unique and views their problems and solutions as such. Each client also has unique talents and gifts that should be recognized and highlighted in therapy. I incorporate PCT, CBT, DBT, and Solution Focused Therapy in my practice. I find these therapies are most beneficial with telehealth and 12 week brief therapy. I appreciate motivated clients that are dedicated to making life changes and willing to do the work. Ultimately, a client's progress is predicted by how dedicated they are to doing the work.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent 17 years in the social service field working with at-risk populations including: the elderly, homeless, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. My time as a social worker provided me with a broad understanding of the challenges faced by our most vulnerable individuals, and I have a great amount of knowledge on case management services available to those in need.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
