I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, and have been working in this field for 8 years. I have had experience in a private practice and have worked with patients experiencing stress, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. I also have experience in the field of eating disorders and have lead groups for parents of children with eating disorders. I have spent most of my career working in both detox and residential units at a drug and alcohol facility.
The issues I have worked with are increasing in prevalence in general and certainly now in times COVID-19. I think it is critical to learn effective, healthy coping skills. The isolation, fatigue, and uncertainty many of us are experiencing is difficult to deal with, and it is more important than ever to reach out and ask for help.
Taking the first step to find a counselor you feel a connection with is not easy, and I hope to provide you that environment of trust. My approach is empathetic and goal-oriented , and I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to work well in many different situations.
I am mainly available to meet with you evenings and weekends, I understand that things often come up between appointments and I am also available by phone and email when needed. You can reach me at 818-431-0250 or at debra.sedley@gmailcom.
I very much look forward to working with you.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
