Hello my name is Melissa Calderon and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of California. I have a bachelor and master's in social work from the University of Southern California (USC). Social work has been a calling for me, one that is honorable and respectful to human life and experiences. I am a social worker who is compassionate and who takes honor in knowing you, YOU as who you are with your struggles, fears and difficult or traumatic life experiences. My role as a therapist is to meet you where you are, to walk with you, to process thoughts and feelings, and assist you in identifying needs, strengths, internal/ external resources. I believe in the change that can happen in the individual and restoration of a persons life through the therapeutic process and client- therapist relationship.
I draw from multiple approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy to address the unhelpful thoughts and feelings that may lead to unhelpful behaviors, solution-focused therapy to find solutions in the present time, problem- solving techniques, motivational interviewing to address ambivalence, etc. I practice therapy with a trauma focused and informed lens.
I have experience in treating depression. anxiety, problems between parent and child, teenage difficulties, abandonment/ rejection, juvenile system, and much more.
I invite you to begin your healing process one step and one day at a time.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
