Kim Selbert has been a wonderful, informative, compassionate therapist who I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with for over 16 months. She has helped me gain the tools and confidence to manage my burnout and overwhelm, to be able to feel comfortable about getting back to social situations, to find more balance, and overall to feel more joy! I have really loved working with her.

More about me
Licensing: MA, LMFT Years in Practice: 10 State: California
Hello. My name is Kim Selbert and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California. I have practiced counseling for ten years and have expertise in the following areas: Coping with Grief and Loss, Cancer, Life Purpose, Pregnancy & Childbirth and Women's Issues. I primarily use a Client-Centered approach and also draw on personal experiences in all of these areas with the clients I work with. I have a broad and diverse background in the helping profession that also includes utilizing laughter as a healing modality.
In addition to my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lindenwood University, I also obtained a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California. I am also a published author and wrote Childbirth Choices in Mothers' Words, that was published by Mills & Sanderson in 1990.
I believe that the best therapy involves support, empathy and education. The therapeutic relationship is designed to encourage and support change and to enable the client to be able to create a better life with the skills learned through therapy that can be utilized even after therapy ends.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
