Hello and congratulations on taking the first step towards healing! My name is Dana Andersen and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor that has been working in the mental health field since 2012. I have experience providing individual, group, and family therapy in an outpatient setting as well as individual and group therapy in an inpatient psychiatric facility. I enjoy creating an LGBTQ+ affirmative space and have worked in settings focused solely on clients with HIV/AIDS. I have experience providing help with a wide range of challenges including anxiety, obsessive compulsive symptoms, trichotillomania, phobias, substance use, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, and grief.
My clinical orientation within psychotherapy is integrative with extensive experience in and leanings towards humanistic, cognitive/behavioral (CBT), dialectical/behavioral (DBT), solution focused, and psychoanalytic/psychodynamic approaches. So what does all of that mean? Well, I appreciate the differences in everyone and center my treatment around the specific needs of each person I work with. The foundation of my work with a client is the strength of our therapeutic relationship. I put a lot of emphasis towards building trust and fostering a healthy and open line of communication. My goals during each session are to promote growth and to build upon the strengths that my clients already have.
Additionally, I would like to highlight that our therapeutic relationship and sessions are a judgement free zone. I believe in creating a space where we can have difficult conversations, work on resolving the identified challenges causing pain, and collaborate on treatment plans that are tailored to your personal needs and experiences.
It takes a lot of courage and motivation to reach out for additional support. Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your support team..
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
