More about me
Licensing: PhD, LMFT Years in Practice: 38 State: California
I have been a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist since 1983. My experience includes working with groups, individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of issues such as domestic violence, child abuse, trauma, personality disorders, role adjustments, suicide, anxiety, stress, and depression to name a few. My training includes hypnotherapy, existential/humanistic dynamic therapy, family systems and strategic solution focused therapies, multicultural counseling.
My specializations include working with Spanish speaking families, crisis intervention and suicide prevention, group counseling, and trauma work through hypnotherapy and dialectal therapies.
I have an empathic style with a very genuine approach. I am flexible and at times direct, but attempt a certain humility with everyone as I believe people know more about themselves than I do.
I see myself joining clients on their raft and flowing downstream with them as they explore the waters of their lives. I like to think of myself as an anchor holding onto clients while they climb the mountain. The journey is not as scary when there is someone there to be an emotional support.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
