Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and hold active licenses in California, Pennsylvania, and North Dakota. I have more than 30 years of experience helping people in a variety of settings, from Employee Assistance (EAP) to Outpatient Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol. In addition to my counseling experience, I have been a clinical supervisor and trainer of therapists. I am also a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist.
Congratulations for taking this brave first step to find support, and to make positive changes in your life! I offer individual counseling for adults, 21 and up, who live in California, Pennsylvania, or North Dakota. I have a supportive, conversational style. We will start wherever you “are” in your life. I see my role as a guide who will help you consider your choices, to examine the consequences of changing versus not changing behaviors or circumstances, to set meaningful goals, and to support your decisions.
In uncertain, stressful times, it is easy to get overwhelmed and “stuck,” but I believe there is always “the one thing” a person can do to take meaningful action. While I agree that knowing “why” we behave in certain ways can be useful, I do feel that people seek out counseling to “move beyond.” I believe that YOU are the expert on you, and I will encourage you to take the next steps to improve your life.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Peter is very patient and always listening. Super professional.
I have felt very comfortable talking to Peter since day one. His advice has been extremely helpful in my day to day life
Peter is a very good listener. His style of therapy is one that adapts to your needs. I saw progress within a few weeks. It's very apparent that Peter has lots of experience, his approach to therapy is like speaking to a good friend. He has good specific advice when asked, but doesn't overwhelm you with everything that you should do to improve your life.
Peter is absolutely fantastic. He listens and understands what I am going through and always provides useful feedback.
My experience with Peter has positive because he is great at giving space to allow yourself to deal with your emotions/thoughts.
Peter has been very helpful. He is very knowledgeable, has strong intuition. And he helps productively advise and guide life issues and challenges. Really pleased with his service.
I find my weekly sessions with Peter are very helpful in helping me get 'unstuck' from my grief. He is helping me to see moving forward is OK, but I can still miss my spouse and that's ok, too. I am so thankful that I took the initial step to seek help for healing and I'm grateful to have been paired with Peter.
Peter is respectful honest and attentive
Peter knew exactly how I was feeling from the first time we spoke. He is easily accessible and easy to talk to. He is doing a great job!
Peter is super easy to talk with and helpful in walking through things when needed
Calm and wise and inviting
I really enjoy working with Peter. He offers good insights and guidance in a non-judgmental, supportive and calming manner. Our sessions have been very beneficial for me and I highly recommend him.
I find my sessions with Peter very beneficial. Peter always leads me into realizing that my grief feelings are valid and I leave our sessions with hope that I am, again, ok.
Peter has been amazing. He is a great listening and helps guide me through whatever I am dealing with at the time.
I find Peter to be a very responsive therapist. He has great insight as to my issues and is really helping me handle my grief. His questions to me help me see just how I am affected by my 'new' normal and that it's OK to not be ok. I always feel better after our sessions. Thank you.
Very good experience with Peter.
Helpful and insightful
Peter is a great listener and I appreciate his very thoughtful responses to what I say.
Peter is the one if you need direct, open feedback about a difficult situation. He's particularly good at helping you navigate interpersonal issues at work. He is intuitive, compassionate, creative, and actually weighs in. I can't recommend highly enough.
Peter was absolutely fantastic, kind and insightful who would provide action steps if I asked, but also a great guide if I just needed to reflect. I told my partner he felt like the kindly dad I never had with sage advice and a twinkle in his eye!
Peter is a gift to the therapy community. As his sessions might feel brief sometimes, it’s only because he knows what to really narrow down on and give clear advice. Great listener and supportive and knows when to give you advice to stop and think twice about your situation. He’s open my eyes quite a few times and has a calmness and coolness about him that I look forward to speaking with each week.
I love Peter’s conversational style. He intently listens and understands the issues and mental blocks I am working to overcome. He does a wonderful job of giving insightful advice as well as actionable steps to implement in order to progress.
Easily one of the best therapists I’ve ever worked with!
I have completed four sessions with Peter. I found him very easy to talk to and he has a gentle and persistent manner about him that encouraged me to peal the layers back on my issues. This has helped me to be motivated and stay flexible. Also, I feel I have unloaded some self-imposed baggage due to our dialogue. I am very happy to have my sessions with him.
Peter is a great listener, and quickly helped me sort through the things that were troubling and confusing me. We had weekly sessions by phone, and he was always available to give me positive support via text between our weekly sessions. Over the many months of working with Peter, I overcame the things that troubled me, and then Peter continued to help me manage my success.
Peter actively listens, pays attention, and understands. He is willing to give the hard advice while still respecting my personality and life story. I am very appreciative to have him as a counselor!
Peter is an empath with a wonderfully quirky perspective on life. He helped me tremendously during a rough depressive patch.
Peter is a reassuring and helpful presence in my life. A safety net, if that doesn’t sound too weird. I am grateful.
Peter Jastermsky is a very hands-on therapist. He listens extremely carefully and reviews anything you write. In sessions, Peter captures both the details of what you're going through, and also the general vibe of how it's playing out for you. He is not afraid to weigh in on your situation, sometimes using very definite language that cuts through the crap. I feel with peter like I really have someone in my corner who helps me read the situation in front of me, identify my options, and keep me on track with my own self improvement. He's absolutely the therapist you want if you are facing a difficult situation at your job. Expect to put in some self-work, and expect things to get better pretty much right away.
Great man. Helpful. Talks to you like a person and is not afraid to tell you like it is.
He is great at listening and offering advice. Incredibly responsive. I just wish I can change and get better.
Extremely helpful. Understands the matter quickly and provides solid feedback. Both understanding and constructive. Great councilor.
Peter helped me identify my pattern of behavior that led me to continuously run away from close relationships. He helped me build a plan to be honest with myself about what is important to me, how to appropriately communicate that in a relationship and how to identify the characteristics of a good relationship.
Peter helps me with my worries and struggles and I have been able to take care of some of those things. I appreciate him a lot. I feel that I will be able to do better in life thanks to him.
He was awesome
Talking to Peter and coming to better help has unlocked a few things already in my personal and professional life. I already feel less confused about the things that are happening especially with family.
I’ve only been working with Peter for a short while, but he has already offered some valuable insights and goals to focus on, as well as ways to decrease my stress. Highly recommend
Peter has been extremely helpful with getting my life back on track. I've felt an overall positive effect after starting work with him.
He is very kind & knowledgeable. Thankful for the few sessions I had.
I have had one session, but feel very comfortable talking and listening to Peter. I appreciate that he doesn't hold back. I needed to hear that I haven't learned my lesson yet.
