She's great. Helps me understand my own problems and let's me figure out a solution with her added expertise. Overall very understanding to different cultural values and offers so many different resources to help.

Leah was an absolute godsend when I needed help with crippling anxiety. I've worked with her weekly for 3 months now and it's been truly life changing. Each week was a new learning experience on how anxiety could be managed and with Leah's help I'm finally at a place where I believe that. I'm finally living that and feeling like myself again. She's supportive and understanding of needs. She's extremely easy to talk to which is so important! I don't think I could have been matched with anyone better and I'm so grateful for everything she brought to the table. She's absolutely wonderful and I'm so grateful.

More about Leah

  • 20 years' experience
  • Female
  • LMHC

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, with over 7 years of Master's level counseling experience and a total of 20 years in the mental health and social work field. I have worked for many different types of organizations and learned various skills from both my professional and personal experiences.

A few areas of specialization include Depressive/Bipolar Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Trauma Work/PTSD, Adjustment/Life Transition Issues, Relationship/Codependency Issues, Chronic Pain/Health Issues, LGBTQ Issues, Adult Child of Alcoholics/Dysfunctional Families work, Self Esteem/Self Love Issues, and Divorce/Breakup Recovery, specifically from a Narcissistic or Addicted/Compulsive romantic partner/spouse. I am unable to treat "Cluster B" Personality Disorders, such as Borderline Personality, Histrionic, Narcissistic, and Antisocial Personality Disorders at this time; however, I am able to work with families or loved ones to help navigate these types of relationships and set appropriate boundaries. I will treat Substance Abuse issues only after the client has completed a detox/inpatient/outpatient program to help maintain long term sobriety. I am unable to treat people in active addiction who are currently using substances, with the exception of Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT), such as Suboxone or Methadone, as I do have experience working with patients who are currently taking these medications to treat Opioid Dependency. I am also well versed in various 12 Step programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Co-Dependents Anonymous, Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families (ACA), and Celebrate Recovery. I may recommend one of these programs to supplement our therapy with a support network.

I use several different therapeutic approaches, since I don't believe in a "one size fits all" solution. Everyone has different needs, and I enjoy working with you to create specific treatment goals. In addition to the various treatment approaches listed on my profile, I do incorporate an overall Holistic approach, involving Mind, Body, Spirit, and Relationships. I have completed 2 years of certified training in Spiritually Integrated Therapy; however, I only incorporate your personal spiritual beliefs into the sessions to the extent you desire. I also am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Provider, which means I integrate natural and alternative modalities into our sessions as desired. Overall, the most important thing is that we work together to develop a strong therapeutic alliance with each other!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
