More about me

Licensing: Licensed Professional Counselor Years in Practice: 3 State: Georgia

Thank you for seeking counseling via betterhelp. I am Melissa Travers, a Licensed Professional Counselor living in Georgia. I have 22 years of experience in the mental health field and have worked in a variety of settings including school counseling, grief counseling, military member/family counseling, crisis counseling, addictions counseling, and children and adolescents counseling. I specialize primarily in those seeking help for relationship, grief, depression, and anxiety issues. For couples counseling, I believe any relationship can be restored and thriving if both partners are committed to this goal. Each individual I serve presents unique concerns and goals, and I work to individualize my approach to best suit those needs.

I would describe my approach as empathetic, goal oriented, and client centered. I enjoy helping people through challenging situations. I provide a warm and non-judgmental environment, allowing us to better work together to reach your goals. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational interviewing to help my clients set goals and objectives, work through their traumas, and feel empowered once they have met their goals. I encourage complete honesty and work hard to create a trusting client-counselor relationship.

Everyone deserves to have someone to easily talk to; let me be that person for you. I look forward to working with you and guiding you in meeting your therapeutic goals.

About online counseling

Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
