I started off my journey as a dancer and actor and earned my BFA in theater from New York University, Tisch School for the Arts. After touring in a show that dealt with childhood sexual abuse and receiving training to be able to help children who disclosed abuse to us, I realized my pull to helping others as a therapist. I returned to school and earned a MA degree in Creative Arts Therapy with a specialty in Dance/Movement Therapy, and practiced as a psychotherapist for several years for children suffering from abuse, depression, behavior disorders and other areas. I also worked with adults and elders with depression and more severe psychiatric disorders. As I was interested in furthering my skills, I returned to school once again to earn my Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from Fordham University followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University . I have worked in learning and behavioral assessments for children and adolescents and as a researcher with a focus on the impact of media and technology on children's learning and behavior. Over the years, I have also served as an expert in parenting in various capacities and am a certified clinical anxiety treatment professional. In addition to serving as a therapist, I have been working for almost 15 yeas as a professor in Psychology teaching and working with students of all ages from undergraduate through doctoral.
My diverse background allows for a unique approach in counseling and providing therapeutic services. I see each of my clients as unique individuals, and tailor my approach in working with each according to what works best for them.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
