More about me
Licensing: LCPC Years in Practice: 30 State: Illinois
Live the life you want! In 25+ years of working with clients, I have developed a clinical style based on how I would like to be treated if I were the client; a respectful, relaxed atmosphere providing excellent care - sometimes even fun. I work collaboratively to clarify my client's problems and resources, to address their concerns and help them get to where they want to be in life. I don't label my clients and often see myself as a type of teacher or coach.
In addition to the 20 years I've run my own practice, I worked for 7 years in a major corporation as part of the corporate human resources organization. Further, in 2016 I also began working for the Chicago Blackhawks to help the athletes bring their best game through my skills as a performance coach.
I have broad experience working with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma and related issues. A main practice method is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. This examines our perceptions and behaviors and develops tools for change; other methods are used as well creating an "eclectic" approach. I have specialty training for anxiety disorders & trauma (EMDR Level II). I also incorporate mindfulness based practices with many of my clients as I find it helps them achieve clarity and peace in their lives.
Experience, training and a relaxed, down-to-earth approach distinguishes my practice. I focus on helping my clients achieve the life that they want and developing the skills to keep it. I understand how hectic our world can be and offer flexibility in scheduling, including evening appointments.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
