More about me
Licensing: LCSW Years in Practice: 6 State: Illinois
Hello and congratulations on taking this first step! It takes courage and insight to reach out when you're feeling low, and I'm very glad you're here.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. I graduated from the University of Chicago with concentrations in Evidence-Based Practice and Substance Abuse Treatment. I am also experienced in mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia and other psychosis, as well as smoking cessation. Most of my clinical work has been with adults in community settings. I have also worked on research studies testing new and exciting interventions.
I take a strengths-based approach to therapy and aim to understand each individual within the context of their unique environment. My style is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, to name a few. I believe that our thoughts and behaviors are not random - we learned them for a reason. I look forward to helping clients identify and break out of patterns of behavior or thought that are unhelpful to their current life and goals.
I have seen clients make incredible progress in dire situations, and I believe that there is always hope. Whatever your circumstance, diagnosis, or history, you can live a meaningful and fulfilling life. It may be a journey, and I'd like to help you get there.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
