I am an African American female Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois and I started my career in the counseling field in 2001, as a group home counselor for at-risk male youths, homeless young male adults, and their families, where we worked on family reunification, substance abuse, LGBTQ+ Issues, job skills, life skills, and independent living. From there I moved more into the substance abuse field working with DUI offenders, court mandated persons ordered to do anger management, and as an interventionist for families, and individuals who struggle with all forms of addiction and co-dependency. Since then, I returned to school to obtain my masters in Clinical Mental Health, during which time I worked with individuals who struggled with family issues, depression, suicide, grief and loss, schizophrenia disorder, bi-polar disorder, anxiety disorder, PTSD, dually diagnosed individuals, and those with other co-occurring disorders in an outpatient hospital clinic setting. I then furthered my career and obtained a second master's degree in School Counseling, where I enveloped experience in working with students in an inner-city school setting who struggled with body image, depression, suicide, self-harm, substance abuse, LGBTQ+ issues, ADHD, ADD, OCD, neighborhood trauma, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

My primary therapeutic orientations are cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy; however, I strongly believe that it is essential to meet a person "where they are at" and establish a therapeutic alliance using my developed professional skills and eclectic abilities to provide each individual with a therapeutic orientation is necessary to move them toward a place of peace and healing. I believe in the purpose of counseling and I believe that even the most skeptical can become a believer!

METAMORPHOSIS is the process of change into something adult, mature and breathtaking. I would like to think that I've been entrusted by clients to help them transition into living a better life, so that they may spread their wings and fly! My goal is to uplift, empower, teach, and motivate those who struggle to work toward living a healthy and happy lifestyle. My commitment is to provide the best clinical services each person deserves with dignity and respect and there has been no greater pleasure for me other than to be blessed with the opportunities to work with individuals in this field of healing and the transformation of lives.

I have only been with Latechia but i feel she listens to me and also calls me out when need be. I like the fact that she is real with me and doesn't beat around the bush.

My therapist is a great listener and the homework she gives me after each session is extremely helpful and my healing process

I had low expectations but tried betterhelp anyway, because I finally admitted to myself that I really needed to talk to someone. From the first session I began to feel better and I was never going to go to an actually location for therapy, i just would never have done that. I did phone therapy and had no problem fitting that in and it was way more comfortable for me, talking on the phone from my own space. I'm taking the time to leave this review because Latichia deserves it, she's been really good for me.

Great therapist!

Super amazing and a patient person!

Mrs. Latechia is absolutely wonderful. We just started my healing journey but so far she has made me feel heard and seen. Therapy is such a big step but she has made it feel easy to open up and feel like we can really get me to where I want to be. I highly recommend her!

I have only had one session with Latechia so far so I'm not qualified to speak in depth about her expertise - but I will say I learned a lot about myself from that first session and she has a really effective way of understanding and reflecting back what I have been questioning - I think the simple act of her clearly articulating what I try to explain in simpler terms is super affective and puts things into the perspective I usually lack.

Latechia is a wonderful counselor she is very good at making her clients feel validated, heard and giving them real tools on how to approach obstacles they face in their life.

Latechia is amazing for 2 very simple reasons. She realizes I need therapy more than me. I come to her when I think yeah today I need it but she's pushing for more. 2 goes along with 1. I tried to set my own precedence of what I thought I needed I tried to make my own rules but she has been there to truly let me vent and I cannot wait to see where things continue to go for me because of how comfortable I feel.
