My pronouns are he/him. My approach to counseling is as a partner to walk with someone towards a place of healing. I utilize a trauma informed, person centered approach to help others realize their potential and work closely with them, on the path of their choosing, to help them achieve their goals. I find that it is vital to the counseling relationship that we honor the unique experiences of all individuals and recognize the strengths that have brought them this far.
I have personal experience with addiction and recovery that I believe enhances my ability to connect with others who are struggling. I specialize in working with individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQUIA2S+ community, those who are experiencing issues related to addiction, those who have experienced varying degrees of trauma, and those seeking gender affirming counseling and support.
My primary therapeutic approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I understand that treatment is not "one-size fits all" and believe that in order to achieve long lasting change we must develop a plan of care together.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

I could not recommend Ian enough. Ian has gone above and beyond, and has been such an important figure in helping me through an overwhelming time of life. If you are fortunate enough to have Ian as a councilor, I can say with unwavering confidence that he will help guide you with support, grace, and refined experience.
Ian has been a real god send at this time in my life. I have been dealing with COVID fatigue and other work strain issues, and other personal issues have come into play as we've worked together, too. He is just a wonderful, competent, compassionate, caring, down to earth person who makes me feel like I have exactly the guidance I need walking alongside me as I navigate this challenging time in my life. Working with him gives me such great confidence that I can and will (and am!) figure out and resolve the various issues in my life that I am dealing with now. I am so glad that he and BetterHelp exist!
I continue to be so grateful that BetterHealth hooked me up with Ian. It feels like a perfect fit. I feel seen and heard and validated. I feel like he talks to me directly and without playing any word games, as some therapists sometimes do. Our sessions have been helping me move through my initial concerns really quickly and are also helping me become aware of other issues that I'd really like to address here. Thanks so much -- what a gift!
