ABOUT ME
Hello, and welcome to my profile. I am a clinical psychotherapist, licensed as an LPC in Texas. I have been working in the field of mental health, in various capacities for the past 34 years, and in private practice for 29 of those, including currently. I have had many years of trainings, and hold multiple certifications. My work has included, but is not limited to; issues with anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, abuse and domestic violence; marriage and family, couples/relationships; custody, LGBQT; gender identity; addictions; terminal issues, death and dying; multicultural issues, and many others.
Although I have worked with all ages and levels of clients, I am currently only working with adults, marriages, and couples. I also provide psychotherapy, counseling and life coaching. My general approach to therapy work, is to assess client's presenting issues and assist them to resolution of whatever is causing them the most distress. I use, talk therapy, CBT, mindfulness, relaxation techniques and particularly focus on integrative processes, to better balance mind, body and spirit. It is my greatest desire to help others find what best fits in their lives and brings them the most peace.
I have an awareness and sensitivity to multicultural issues, and although I am Christian, I have great respect for other faiths and beliefs. I believe that I am easy to talk to, empathetic and have a gift of being very intuitive, and I will use all of these and other personal characteristics in my work with others. I look forward to working with those who are seeking more balance and contentment in their lives.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Sue has been exactly the person/angel I needed to help me untangle the childhood trauma that I've struggled with, as well as other topics all over the board. I can't recommend her enough. Thank you so much, Sue, you've made such a wonderful difference to me!
Even though we are across the country, I feel we are right there with each other. I look forward to our weekly meetings and feel heard and connected to my therapist.
She’s really a great psychotherapist. I thought she’s just a typical therapist, but I was wrong. She’s really open to listen even if you went overtime as long as she is free. She’s also always on time for our sessions. I like her a lot therefore she’s highly recommended! You won’t feel you are judgely wrong (based on my concerns) you can really feel her sincerity and she has a very good memory for her age. Experience has really taught her great wisdom and knowledge. I salute her for being too professional. I feel light-hearted every time we ended our sessions, after ranting out to her. I wish I could also listen more to her stories. She doesn’t feel like some random stranger to me but rather a family member that I can be open with. I’m just so grateful I matched with a superb therapist that matches my concerns.
You can’t teach nor beat life-experience. Knowledge and wisdom-acquired from a life lived, is so valuable. I didn’t want a 20 /30 or 40 something year old therapist, I wanted someone with wisdom plus expertise. Sue has that in abundance. And gives so much energy and care to our sessions. Highly recommend
Sue is an absolutely wonderful human and therapist. She has helped bring me from the darkest and most scary place of severe anxiety to a place where I have peace and harmony in my days again - a sense of normality and hope for my future. I can’t recommend her services enough and every day am just so grateful that this site connected her to me. She is sympathetic, understanding, wise and caring, I feel so safe when I talk to Sue and always like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders after our sessions. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am now stepping into a better and brighter future and with full faith that I can recover from a hard moment in my life.
Sue is wonderful! I started therapy needing to heal a lot within and she helped me root it out and really dig deep to do the dirty work to heal from the inside out. Sue will lovingly hold your hand through whatever troubles your mind, body, or spirit and won't let go until you both get to the other side. I would highly recommend working with M. Sue Echols. She's kind, compassionate, empathetic and extremely accommodating, and available with her schedule. She gives you notice well in advance if she needs to reschedule or cancel and works to make sure that your session is rescheduled for a time that works for you. She also responds to messages in a timely manner, making it easy to talk through a moment of anxiety or stress when needed. Sue is an incredible therapist and Betterhelp is lucky to have her on their platform.
She really listened and understood where I was coming from. She helped me better understand how I was feeling and how to deal with it!
I’m very grateful betterhelp paired me with Sue. She is exactly who I was looking for and I didn’t have to go through the “dating” phase of finding a therapist. 10/10
she was my first therapist and it was a great experience! She has helped me a lot and she has given me so many tips for my depression / anxiety / panic attacks. I am so thankful to have had such a therapist!
