More about me
LCSW, MSW, MPH
Years in Practice: 12
I am a therapist licensed in Virginia with over 12 years of experience working with trauma and mental health. I particularly connect with clients who have concerns related to trauma (typical but also any event that was overwhelming and the effects just won't go away), difficulty regulating emotions and connecting to others or who find they are repeating the same pattern over and over. I have also helped many people who feel their children are out of control and that their parenting is failing.
Sessions with me feel casual and empowering. I really admire and respect anyone who is willing to risk vulnerability for change so I enter our interactions already admiring and respecting you. I use skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR and attachment theory to help make sense of your experience, help you learn new skills to manage or even change your circumstances, and heal from past events and habits that no longer serve you. We will work together to identify your goals and the pace of therapy, and no processing begins without your explicit permission.
I'm grateful you made it this far, and that you're choosing to seek health. Most of my clients agree that meaningful change is hard but that they wish they'd started sooner, once they learned how great they can feel.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
