More about me
Licensing: LMHC, CASAC Years in Practice: 11 State: New York
I am a New York licensed LMHC with over a decade of experience working with formerly incarcerated, currently incarcerated, and severely mental-ill individuals. I have also worked with addicted and dual-diagnosed patients and hold a New York Credential in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. I do my best to be patient-centered as something that works for one person is not guaranteed to work for someone else and it is the therapist's role to tailor the situation to the person in front of them.
In addition to severely mentally ill and incarcerated individuals, I have been trained in trauma therapy and critical incident response management to help individuals work through previous traumas they experienced with the goal of being able to reduce negative feelings that the patient might experience. I am also married to a first responder and have done field work being an assessor to determine a proper level of services needed. These experiences have helped me develop patient-focused skills on people who experience greater traumas as part of their jobs compared to individuals in the regular population.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
