More about Marla

  • 20 years' experience

  • LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience. My focus is to help clients cope with stress and become more resilient. I work with adolescents and adults with emotional and mental health issues, as well as families in crisis. I have a passion for helping and have worked extensively with anxiety and anxiety-related conditions (including helping people get "unstuck"), stress and trauma. Working collaboratively and empathically with clients and using humor in the process is very important.

My therapeutic approach is holistic, compassionate and client-centered; I meet you where you are at. In my work I utilize a psychodynamic approach, including CBT, solution-focused therapy, DBT, parenting groups and family system dynamics, attachment theory, mindfulness for stress reduction and motivational interviewing. I provide you with support and encouragement to create more functional behavioral patterns, while building on your strengths and recognizing the mind-body connection. During the therapy process I assist you in the discovery of your individual strengths and problem solving abilities.

My style is to create a safe place for you to experience vulnerabilities while sharing your stories. I work with adolescents and adults with issues related to anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, attention deficit, chronic medical issues, depression, emotional dysregulation, separation/divorce, foster care/adoption and grief/loss. I focus on building self-worth and coping skills and enjoy working with diverse populations. I am known for being encouraging and motivating; you will find that I have a non-judgmental and caring manner.

I hope you to hear from you.
