Dr. Seamster has been helping me with some marriage issues stemming from infidelity and the resultant anger and frustration that I've suffered. She has done a great job identifying and explaining the negative effects of these emotions and is helping me move forward in a positive way.

PhD, LPC
Years in Practice:

I am an individual, family and couples counselor licensed in Virginia with over 15 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, mood disorders, and job/life stress. I also have helped many people who have experienced physical, sexual trauma or emotional abuse.
My counseling style is compassionate, non-judgmental, warm, and interactive. I believe in treating others with respect and sensitivity, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, solution-focused, client-centered, and trauma-informed counseling. I will tailor our sessions and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I believe therapy should make others feel validated and understood to allow the darkest thoughts and memories to surface. My main focus in therapy remains on you in session. I will not only take in your words, but I will also understand them. I will not be distracted by other things in session, because I believe it takes courage to take steps towards making changes in life. You will not be forced to do things in session that you do not wish to do, and you make your own decisions about your therapy. The goal of the sessions is for you to feel like you can be honest and just be yourself. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
