More about me
Licensing: LCSW-C Years in Practice: 30 State: Maryland
My name is Ayrol Young and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C). My bachelor's degree in in mental health technology and my master's degree in in clinical social work from Bryn Mawr College. I have many years experience working as a crisis intervention counselor for the city of Baltimore.....supporting the Baltimore Crisis Hot Line. The federal government's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provided many years of experience in short-term, solution focused counseling. I also consulted with and trained federal agencies around Workplace Violence Prevention. Most recently, I worked as a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) supporting service members and their families on military bases in the US and overseas.
I believe that the healing and personal growth process is supported by the counseling relationship in which each individual actively participates and maintains focus on your life goals. I view personal growth as a life-long process......where we sometimes experience bumps along the way. I enjoy working with people who share that view.
Each individual is unique....with his or her special issues to be resolved. There are many routes to problem resolution. Over the years I have studied several interventions including Gestalt, EMDR, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to name a few. What works for one person many not help another so, I believe, it is helpful to have alternatives from which to choose.
Making that first contact is often the hardest. I am here to support you when you reach out. I look forward to meeting you!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
