Welcome! Pursuing and participating in therapy is hard work, and I commend you for beginning this journey.
My name is Kristin (she/her) and I am an open and affirming Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Virginia. I have over 5 years of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and young adults. I have experience working with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression; anxiety; abandonment and attachment trauma; grief and loss; and general coping-skill development. My experience includes responding to traumatic events and/or mental health crises in the metro Richmond area, and applying Psychological First Aid to build skills in de-escalation and self-regulation.
The treatment modalities that I can offer virtually include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, emotion-focused family therapy, and play therapy (adults play, too!). I am a Certified Trauma and Resilience Practitioner, but I also know that you are bigger than your trauma(s), so I apply a healing-centered approach to help highlight and celebrate natural strengths and resources. I specialize in mindfulness and grounding work; navigating major life changes; and processing inner child and/or attachment wounds.
I hope you find the best fit for your therapeutic needs, and I appreciate you taking your time to see what I could offer you.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
