I am a family and marriage therapist licensed in Oklahoma and Missouri with over 19 years of experience working as a family and children's therapist, and as a crisis clinician through community mental health centers. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including trauma-based disorders, depression, anxiety, family relationship issues, parenting problems, ADHD, and ODD. I am also experienced in crisis care, and short-term inpatient care.
My therapy style is warm and interactive, but straightforward, and with a bit of respectful humor. I believe in treating all people with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, structural, client-centered, trauma-focused or trauma-informed therapy. I prefer to come alongside a family or individual in partnership rather than to lead or dictate them through resolving their struggles.
My schedule is mostly focused on evenings and Sundays after 12pm.
I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Wonderful and kind! Always helping me see the other side of things. Never judgmental either. Feels like I’m talking to a family friend.
Barry is truly wonderful and has helped me through so many of life’s curveballs. He is kind, caring, friendly, intelligent, professional, and so much more. Grateful for his expertise.
Barry does a fantastic job of listening to me and then giving constructive feedback on how to tackle issues. I have several different fires burning and he still affirms me I’m handling it well even when it doesn’t feel like it.
He’s super nice and also includes some of his own experiences. Is very professional. Listens and give lots of advice
Barry had been a great help in making one aware of what is really the issues and where the root of it is coming from . He really helps you connect the dots to have a complete understanding the entire picture . Great therapy sessions
Barry is a great support to anyone dealing with family related issues, he has deep knowledge about what it means to go through stresses at home, work and family life. I thought I needed a female therapist but I gave it a shot and I’m glad I did. Few things can replace a truly human approach, empathy and understanding. Something we all need
Barry has been a great help to me already, he is very welcoming and makes me feel comfortable. He listens and provides interesting connections or way of thinking about things I’ve never previously considered. I look forward to my sessions with him each week and am so glad I took the step to start therapy.
I feel very fortunate to be matched with a very good therapist. Barry has helped me process through some challenging parenting, relationship advice, trauma and divorce. He can see through my chaos and with his experience can guide me to some normalcy. I appreciate his knowledge and his patience with me to get to the root of my issues.
It’s been great working with Barry so far! He offers lots of different coping techniques that I wouldn’t have tried on my own. I always feel comfortable sharing what’s going on in my life and feel he listens. He makes light conversation at the end which always makes me leave the session feeling calm and relaxed. So far I’ve made lots of progress with my personal goals, and I genuinely believe it’s due to having someone hold me accountable in such a supportive judgment free way :)
Barry is very easygoing and a pleasure to chat too. He’s friendly and interested in everything that you have to say. I feel comfortable sharing with Barry without judgement. I also enjoy having a laugh with Barry.
Barry has provided me a safe place to process the very difficult year I’ve had. Great feeling to know I have a neutral support available to me.
Thanks to Barry and his gentle, supportive and encouraging ways, I feel like I’m back to my old happy self and loving life again. He’s been great so far and it’s been a few months.
He’s been very helpful with my problems, offers good advice and solutions.

Although we have only had two sessions so far, he has done a great job at understanding my situation.
Barry has accommodated my busy life. Listens to what I have to say and responds with options to handle them.
I have had Barry Plumlee for a couple of weeks now and I can say that he is a great therapist. He definitely understand my situation and what I feel. I love that he asks me questions and engage in our conversations which is something that I did not have with my previews therapist. He give me exercises to practice so that I can deal with my issues better and shift my perspective of life/situation to a much more rational and healthy level. I love how patient he is with me and how he does not mind going over the same topic as many times as I wish. So far all the sessions that I have had with him have been very helpful.
Barry has been very helpful. I have only had two live chat sessions with him but I feel he understands what I am going through. He has given me great advice, examples and resources. He responds to my messages very quick!
