More about me
Licensing: LICSW Years in Practice: 7 State: Massachusetts
Hi! My name is Rachael and I am a licensed independent clinical social worker in Massachusetts. I graduated from Clark University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and obtained my Master's in Social Work degree from Simmons University in 2015. I have been working in the field for about seven years now and specialize in working with survivors of trauma of all kinds, as well as people struggling with depression and anxiety. I also have extensive experience working with youth and families around challenges with family dynamics, parenting, intergenerational trauma, etc.
One of the things that originally drew me to social work in particular is its emphasis on the person in their environment--in other words, considering the ways that social and environmental factors influence individuals and their mental health. As such, it is incredibly important to me to practice from a social justice-oriented framework, acknowledging and exploring the ways that factors such as racism, sexism, socioeconomic status, homophobia, transphobia, etc. impact peoples' lives in big and small ways. I am deeply committed to respectful curiosity and welcome and frequently elicit feedback from my clients about how they feel our work together is going. Much of my practice is grounded in narrative frameworks and values, meaning that I consider clients to be the experts in their own lives. My expertise is in asking questions and supporting them in exploring alternative perspectives and ideas that they may not have considered before. I work collaboratively with clients to explore the challenges they are facing and opportunities for growth and change. I also have training and experience in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Thank you so much for reading all of this and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about me, my practice, or therapy in general. I'm happy to do what I can to help you find the support you're looking for!
Thank you,
Rachael
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
