I have honestly never met a counselor like Kathryn. She is very very good at what she does. In a counselor I’ve always looked for someone that wants to help me with the now and not focus on the past and until now I haven’t found one that I really resonate with and really connect to. She gives me coping skills ( that actually apply!) to help me with my every day life and until now I had not been able to put the coping skills that I’ve learned into my real life. Another very important part to me is she has absolutely no bias or judgement around my spirituality and beliefs. She allows me to talk freely and helps me with the things I really need to work on.

Hi there. I’m Katie Zellner, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) at BetterHelp and I’m so glad you are here.

In order to make an informed decision about your care, it's only fair I tell you a little about myself. I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota in Family Social Science. I then received my Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin Stout in Clinical Mental Health Counseling where I had concentrations in substance abuse counseling and child and adolescent counseling.

I have been in the field since and have developed experience working with the following populations: corrections, substance abuse, mental health, individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling, and child/adolescent counseling. Specifically I’ve worked with clients with the following concerns: depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, compulsive behaviors, anger concerns, mood disorders, relationship concerns, grief/loss, and much more. I’m also trained in Brain Spotting which is a technique for trauma reprocessing.

My approach with my clients tends to be eclectic. I truly believe every person needs something different because with therapy it will never be a one size fits all. With that being said, I pull most from CBT approaches and interventions because it empowers clients to become aware of patterns of thinking and behaviors to take more control over their lives. If you have ever felt stuck, trapped in patterns that continue despite your best effort, or have ever asked yourself why you do what you do, you have come to the right place. I want to help you find those answers and empower you to make the changes you need in your life.

I’m passionate about the work I do and I hope that comes through in our work together. I look forward to meeting you.

Taking that first step, scheduling that first appointment, is often the hardest part. Take that risk, and I will be with you the rest of the way.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
